Highland's Indigenous Reparations Fund

Highlands United Presbyterian in Cheyenne, has begun to systematically pay reparations to the Indigenous Peoples of the Wind River Indian Reservation. For more than a year, most Sunday morning worship services at Highlands begin with an acknowledgment that members are worshiping on land stolen from the Tsétsėhéstaestse (Cheyenne), the Hinono’eiteen (Arapaho) and other Native Peoples.

In January of this year Highlands took the extraordinary step of voluntarily assessing on itself a land tax or reparations payment of $500 per month to be set aside in an Indigenous Reparations Fund. We welcome personal contributions from the community to help us grow this fund which will be used in the future for projects identified by Tribal members.  Read more about this fund here

Highland's Vision
Highlands is an inclusive faith community that gathers, shares, and acts on the ideals of Jesus’s teachings.
Mission Statement

Highlands is a faith community where God’s love is manifest by lifting up individuals and our local, national, and global communities through inclusive fellowship, progressive Christian study and worship, and service to our neighbors in need.

Faithful to the words of the hymn, “We will work with each other, we will work side by side; and we’ll guard each one’s dignity and save each one’s pride and they will know we are Christians by our love.”

Worship and Fellowship

At Highlands, you'll hear progressive Christianity preached and taught as you enjoy fellowship with people who take the Bible seriously, but not literally, people committed to mission and advocacy for "the least of these, our brothers and sisters."

Book Clubs

Highlands has both an in-person book club and a Zoom book club.  Both are reading Rodger McDaniel's "Profiles in Courage: Standing Against the Wyoming Wind".

The Zoom book club will resume Wednesday April 5, 2023, at 6pm. We meet weekly. Please let Rodger know that you would like your name added to the ZOOM list (

The in-person book club meets at the church and will resume Monday April 17 from 3-4pm.
